What a VPN does — and doesn't do
A VPN encrypts traffic between your device and the VPN server and hides your IP address from the sites you visit. It's an additional privacy and security layer. It doesn't make you anonymous, and it doesn't replace HTTPS, your bank's security, multi-factor authentication, antivirus or keeping your device updated.
